I got my first ! I got my first !!
Nick in my SRD Premium IV that is.
If it happens again I'm gonna kneel myself and use it like a " Cat of 9 tails"
Worst part is I didn't even know I did it until I went to put it up.
Also when I received both of my strops from SRD I slit the bottom of the bag and cut a notch in the top so I could hang them from their hooks "sheathed" so as to keep dust and wandering fingers off of them what do you guys think? My place is relatively free from excess moisture.Searching With My Good Eye Closed

Good news is, you'll be able to replace the leather if need be
plastic...it'll keep dust off, and if they'll pretty much Bo ok anyway, but if you keep them in the bathroom. I'd skip the bags and just let them dry naturally, instead of maybe trapping it against the leather.Just call me Harold

Naw they are hanging from a hook on the bedroom door with my belts, if I left them in the BR they would get "organized".

Would you mind, if accessible, keeping them in a closet? In the hall, bedroom or linen closet.
That's were I keep mine. I just pull it after shaving, to strop before storing the razor til next use.

Well the thing about the hook(s) on the bedroom door is that they are part of a rack that hangs from the door so they hang under a handful of sweaters keeping the. Protected we moved in with my inlaws while I put my wife thru RN nursing school and it keeps them from being "handled". It's bad enough my Dad came over for my kids birthday saw those and immediately said "ooh ! Which one is MINE son! "

On the SRD strop, undo it from the hardware and turn it around if the nick bugs you! Like a whole new strop!
(Don't ask how I know!)
I think a cover on a strop is an excellent idea as kept in a dry environment. I have 2 NOS strops from the 60's or so with the original plastic wrappers on. They still look brand-new. I also have a few used ones which the barber made fabric covers for. All is necessary is to pull the cover up around the hardware at top and strop, Pull it down again as-done.Last edited by sharptonn; 08-07-2015 at 12:31 AM.

I have had a couple new ones and vintage come in the mail. The new one were in a sealed plastic tube bag and the vintage in a sealed one end bit of bubble wrap. For both i get some material tape and lay it on the bench so that it runs left to right. Put the sealed end on only half way up and then fold over the tape to cover both sides and trim up so it is reinforced. I then fold the tube in half length ways and cut a quarter circle so once unfolded you have a half circle hole in the centre to run the hook through. Use them as the dust covers for the strop that they came with. The first one I didn't reinforce and it started to tear a bit so reinforced it and no problems since and just continued with all of them.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Thanked: 580Part of the learning curve, not many members haven't trashed a strop or two. You may want to have a look at your razors edge to see if you haven't caused any damage. If your next shave is below par, that will be the reason. Correct technique with a good strop can get you 50+ shaves without needing to send your razor out for a re-hone.
