Thanked: 36New strop (not important)
This isn't important and probably isn't even interesting, but I just got a new strop and I'm excited about it. I can't believe I waited so long to invest in a 3" wide strop. Seriously, it makes such a big difference. Way easier to use, and I just had one of the most satisfying shaves ever.

How does it compare to the old strop? material? maker?

It is much easier to use than a 2" or even a 2.5" strop! So since you are so excited why didn't you post a picture?

Thanked: 4828All new pieces of shaving gear are important. I am sorry you did not post a picture or more of a description. I have several strops, not many but I can see how it could become many. There are some beauties out there for sure.

I am with you. I love a 3" strop (and have two)... my 2.5" never gets any love!

Thanked: 351It's never too late to change your mind. Please post details! I joined 7 years before you and I STILL do not have a 3" strop.... but I might soon... if someone posts a picture and pushes me over the edge. Just think, it COULD be you!
Glad you are enjoying your new strop, even if you ARE selfish and keeping the details to yourself.
Regards

Thanked: 36Wow, i didn't think i'd get so many replies! It's a mountain mike strop with a linen bit and a mahogany coloured latigo leather. The linen has a much chunkier weave than the linen on my old strop. I'm not sure what I make of that yet, but it seems ok so far. The leather's smoother than the old one and generally better quality and the rings at the end of the two parts sound great when they ding together. It's the width that makes all the difference though, it's so much easier and a more even result. I used to find the middle of the blade was nice and smoothe and the ends were not, using the cross pattern method on a narrow strop. I chose this one cos it was on a Norwegian site, and shipping from another country would have pushed the price a little over what I was willing to spend. I'll get a pic up later. Thanks for the interest guys!
