Default leather peeling off on paddle strop from SRD

    Hello everyone,

Two weeks back I purchased the paddle strop from SRD. I have not had any issues with it, except that this weekend I noticed that the leather portion was peeling from the magnetic portion. The leather unit has leather on one side, and a magnet on the other, that attaches to the actual paddle, and I think the leather is glued somehow to the magnet. I usually leave it in the bathroom propped up with the leather part facing down. I'm wondering whether due to the humidity the glue separates the magnet from the leather or something like that, or if the glue itself is not strong enough.

Not sure if I should try to get a replacement, or if that is to be expected. Has that happened to anyone else's paddle strop?

Yea, probably if the humidity is high in the bath and water based glue was use. It can be re-glued or replaced, but do not store in high humidity.

Invest in a good ventilation fan or a timer switch.

If you are so inclined glue it, contact cement is probably your best bet, or give Don a call over at SRD and he will probably send out a replacement. I've had mine for a few years and no problems with anything coming unglued. I store mine in a cabinet away from humidity though.

I had the same issue after a year of use on a felt pad. Used some spray adhesive for auto upholstery and fixed it right up.

I think I might Have talked to someone at SRD before bringing this to a open forum. Give them a chance to make it right first.

No, to stick the pad to the paddle handle.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

I actually reglued the pad to the magnet. It is a modular strop after all.

I've used mine for about a year now and no problems with thr lesther separating from the magnetic part. I would try gluing it and if you fail at that contact the vendor.
