Thanked: 21Got a new strop
When I was a Boy Scout (25 years ago), I had a local Leathersmith make me a leather broad rim hat for a hiking trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. I never forgot about him and still have that hat to this day.
When i got into wet shaving, I thought of him again, only to find he closed his shop. Lucky for me he now works out of his garage. I contacted him to make me a strop. He made me this one out of English bridal leather. I couldn't be happier, I think he did a great job. He has over 50 years of leather experience. Guys like him are a dying breed unfortunately.
He he also gifted me a piece of bridal leather to apply chromium oxide if needed. And he did it for a price I couldn't believe
super excited to to strop my first razor.

Sweet! Love things that have a history, story or background. Really cool that you looked him up and found him and even more impressive is that he is still doing leatherwork.
Enjoy it and hand down with the story. It may be enjoyed for generations to come!

Thanked: 220Very good story, and interesting history you've kept there. Hopefully you enjoy the strop just as long as the hat. Thanks for sharing!
