2 Years Without a Nick!
This will be lame for some of you experienced hands, but when i started into straight shaving about 6 years ago, I was plagued with a tendency to nick strops, typically in a place and manner that made it hard to repair, thus ending up with quite a few much shorter "Travel" strops, as it were.
Spending time on my technique and just being careful, I've logged now 2 years on this strop without a nick! I know this probably jinxes me and tomorrow I'll blow the streak, but I wanted to share the good news.

Congrats! Wish I could say that. I've been at it 7 years and nicked one about two weeks ago......accidents do happen.

Thanked: 498Wonderful news Lawson however there are many other perils to protect yourself against. Such as my latest catastrophe. The other day I threw out a Dovo Russian leather strop because while I was trying to latch the strop to my towel rack like I did a thousand times by a S-clip, I managed to drop said strop in the toilet bowl.
Uggggggggggggggh.

You mean without a new nick?
Maybe it's just a semantic thing....I call my 'nicks' feathers. That's what they seem to be, small little feathers. I absolutely can't upgrade strops until I stop making them.Last edited by WW243; 12-07-2015 at 01:07 AM.

I don't nick my strops very often but when I do it's really, really bad. Good luck tomorrow.
