    Default Favorite SRD strop

Was interested in purchasing a Straight Razor Design strop but there seems to be too many options to choose from. I'm still relatively new at straight razor shaving so I don't really know the pros/cons of each type of leather. I like to hear some kind of feedback as I strop, and like at least a tiny bit of resistance.

Also curious about the 2nd strop material. What is the main difference between the hard pressed Wool and the Premium SRD material? Is the premium material basically a linen?

I recently bought the SRD 3" Premium 1 with optional Premium fabric second material. Let's just say that it would take an act of Congress to take it away from me.

I have a Premium IV (English bridle leather) with the premium cotton second material. I also have a Portland Razor Co. strop with nylon secondary and I definitely do not like the nylon as much. The only pressed felt I have used was on a paddle strop and I did not care for it at all. I think the main advantage of the felt is when using diamond or chromium oxide sprays. I prefer CrOx paste over the spray and I do not use diamond spray - if CrOx won't bring an edge back, then it goes straight to the stones without fooling around with diamond spray.

If your looking for draw then you really don't want the Roo strop or a Kanayama, I like no draw or noise so the Kanayama is for me, but you asked in another thread so beware , it's slick as silicone on glass. Tc

I have The Natural 3" strop and the basic fabric and it is a fantastic strop at a nice entry level price. It's built to last and I love the feel of it ( nice feedback ). It has worked really well for me and I get an awesome edge off it.
I love the fact that you can easily replace the leather or fabric if needed.

I have the natural, the red latigo, and the English bridle. Out of those three, my favorite is the bridle. It has a nice medium draw and good feedback. The natural has a light draw and the latigo quite heavy. I much prefer the linen back over the poly webbing, it makes less noise and seems to give me better results.
All three are great in their own ways, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the SRD strops! I am about to order a premium II to add to my collection

I really like the English Bridle. I have all three second pieces. I like the wool.

My daily strop has a linen second that I prefer above all. The premium fabric is noisy but works.

I have been thinking on getting the English bridle for my paddle. I have scrub leather and natural and while I have had no issues I would like a little more draw I think.

I really like Latigo and heavy draw strops. They give me great feedback on the condition of my edge.

I have a Latigo and English Bridle both with the premium cotton second. I do like the Bridle better as a prefer less draw but both work great.
