Thanks for replys. I noticed he offers a "practice strop" with orders of his regular strops so maybe it is best I get one of those to practice on for awhile before moving up to the real thing? He sells the practice strop for literally $11-12 (equivalent to 100 nok).

just a note on this thread, it is not very clear from his website, but when I asked him about it Torolf also shared with me some photos of some of the restored vintage paddle strops he had done, and also some of the loom strops he had for sale. They were very, very attractive too

Thanked: 351I hope I didn't come off as a 'Debbie Downer', but as you said it was going to be your *first* hanging strop, I thought it prudent to mention the Ooops factor that those of us who should know better, still run into.
Yes, a practice strop from Torolf would be great... and it goes in the same box, with one of his real strops, at no extra shipping charge if I recall correctly.

Thanks for all the replays. I ended up going with a 3 inch oil tanned strop with the natural linen, along with a practice strop. Now I have to week 4-5 weeks for it to be made :/
Price was pretty good for an artisan made strop, with shipping it came just under $160 USD.
