    Hi
This is a cheap strop nothing more than a strip of leather.
I put some of this white polishing compound on one side.
I use it laying flat on the edge of my desk.
It is black from the metal from my razors on it.
It still takes metal of just fine.
Under my strong glass I can see the scratches from my 10K stone being removed down to what appears a smooth surface on the edge.
You can get a lifetime supply from the auto parts store. :<)

Your leaving black on your strops by just stropping? I got 2 1/2 years on my strops and they ai t black from metal wearing away, you might want to watch these abrasives not made for razors, not good for your razor and if it's wearing the steel that fast it's not good. Just saying, razor quality paste are cheap and last a lifetime also, the abrasives in automotive isn't pure and not for our purposes, Tc

Hi When I use this glass looking through both lenses at the developing edge I can see the scratches made by my 10K stone.
When I used the white compound strop I can polish out the 10K scratches.

True metal is being removed but this is the purpose of the loaded strop whether using the green crox or diamond paste.
If I could publish a pic I could show the results.

I have an older straight razor and a Gold Dollar and now a razor that I can make put the word Magnetic on the blade. Plus a Rolls razor.
I am learning to shave with a straight razor and learning to hone.
I think I am making progress.

Have heard of others using maas, autosol etc of other polishes for a touch up strop. As long as you have a unpasted strop for daily use if it works then all good.

    Hi
I think I am making progress.
I got a good shave from this one labled Wald ERN.
I gave my chin a deep cut through my carelessness.
I think the edge is getting very sharp

Polishing compound and metal polish will remove stria from a bevel, all visible stria if enough laps are done, but will leave a harsh micro chipped edge. The grits are hard, unknown size and cut quickly.

You can lightly joint the edge on the corner of the 10K and re-set the edge in less than 10 laps, then strop on Chrome Oxide for a nice keen edge.

When the metal build up becomes too much, some WD40 and a paper towel will remove most of it, though you will never remove all of it.
