Default Procedure for stropping with a pasted web.

If I initially strop my razor on a pasted web side of a strop, should I rinse and dry the razor before I proceed to stropping on the leather side?

After using pasted webbing I wipe my blade off like Lynn does in the following video.

Do you gave a seperate strop? You could contaminate your leather component by having it attached to pasted webbing.

So the first thing is, not to over paste your strop. You only need a little paste to effectively strop a razor.

For Chrome Oxide 3 inch X’s about a ½ in thick is plenty of paste.

Where you will have a problem is right after pasting, once it gets worked into the strop it will not shed as much, but do wipe the razor well with a piece of tissue until you do not see any Chrome Oxide on the tissue.

If you do get Chrome Oxide on your strop, you will never be able to remove all of it.

I rinse my razors in hot running water and wipe with a micro fiber to dry in addition to the tissue.

Do use a separate web or canvas strop for paste. You can buy a yard of nylon or polyester 2 in strapping from any yardage shop for 2-3 dollars, enough for a couple strops.

If you want to experiment, a piece of cardboard, the inside of a Cereal Box works great for most paste, 3 in X’s, just lay it on the edge of a counter or table and strop, If you like it then make a dedicated strop.

    These are preliminary inquiries.

Now I know that the first thing I need to do is get a second strop!

    A cereal box, eh?
