Thread: Help with wrinkles in new strop!

Once the grain is stretched out on a piece of leather by rolling it too tightly or folding it, the fibers that make up the different layers within the leather come loose, and you get those wrinkles because some stretch more than others. I agree that that is shipping damage. Almost all leathers will do this if folded. However, less expensive leathers get even worse. I would wipe both sides of the leather down with water, let the water absorb for a few minutes, and try to use a flat surface to press the leather flat again. I have a piece of glass with the corners rounded I use when I do leather work. This will get it closer, but won't remove the wrinkles. I wouldn't try and use the strop like that.

when you first start your gear needs to be in good condition since this would help you eliminate the equipment as a variable and allow judging your technique by reviewing the shave quality .
so i would definitely try replace the strop.
if this is not an option i would try the different methods mentioned here
