Don't know what to tell you, never seen one.
Is it vintage or modern/current production?

Thanked: 171Current Dovo strops look to me like rebranded Herold strops, which produces the bulk of German strops.
Because of convenient size and since I travel regularly, I still keep a Herold strop in my suitcase and keep a Herold loom strop in my study.
They are smaller than your typical 3" SRD strop, but get the job done quite nicely.
I like their soft, low-draw leather, but use now mainly Mastro Livi strops that take whatever I liked about Herold loom strops to the next level.
I am not sure what the mark-up is for the Dovo name on the strop, but I found the reasonably priced original Herold strops well worth the money, which is another way of saying that I would check whether an otherwise identical Herold strop cannot be had for less money.

Thanked: 220I was unaware of Dovo strops so I can't give any advice on it's performance, but less than $60.00 is very cheap for a strop.

Dovo doesn't make strops. They are rebranded. I used to have one years ago and it was a quality piece.

Thanked: 98Looks like a re-branded Herold and is 56.00 for an Herold on amazon. The 15-17" stropping areas are too short for my taste,
I would rather spend 100.00 for the parts to make a much better quality and 3"X24" at least stroping area.
The Materials used make the most difference, you buy a 12.00 strop and it won't even be worth that.
To my thinking there is NO strop on earth worth more than 100.00 and I don't care if the shell came from M. Livi's own Butt.

They work. Herold strops are good. The Juchten strop is really quite nice. Personally, I'd rather have a Scrupleworks strop, or, of course, an SRD one. Those are really nice, and well worth their money - and beyond.

It has been my experience that the 'Prima Rindleder' strops of Dovo, Herold, Jemico (and a few other brands which escape me at this time) are quite good. All seem to be the same good quality from the same maker.
However, the pricing could bring them closer to something better, I guess?Last edited by sharptonn; 07-20-2016 at 02:23 AM.
