Gents are there any more disorders born of Straight razor shaving. We've got the RAD, the HAD, and now the bloody SAD. I ordered the #70000 yesterday. From all the literature on the gentlemen Mr Naomi, his age and the uncertainty of future supply, these lovely strops may well be a wise investment, apart from their pre-eminence in the role of strop. HarryWally tipped me to Fendrihan, who seem to be the only outlet who has most of the range. A lot of advertisers say they stock them, but on most sites I viewed the 'Currently out of stock' sign, was abundant. Clearly demand is outstripping supply, so strike while the iron is hot, I'd reckon.

Got bit by the brush and soap thing long time ago...to the point where although I really enjoy the many razors I have to choose from, the real fun for me now is in selecting a soap and the brush to go with it....and of course the necessary "progressive stropping" to prepare the razor, so many laps on the 3" SRD Roo Strop, a really nice fast draw strop that just loves the really hollow grinds, to the Kanayama, then a few laps if needed on the Tony Miller....then there's experimenting with the brushes...full soak of the brush, which I've lately heavily backed away from to just wetting the tips a bit, completely changes the character of the brush.

It's a mad, mad world in straight shaving....

Phrank, to drift off topic, I bought a Chinese 'Silver tip brush' 30mm in diameter, big bushy. I looked at it under 400x and it was genuine hair, may have been dipped in chlorine, but 18 months later I'm still using it, while I've 3 muhle silvers in the cupboard. So it is with strops, and the ability of a product to command an audience. I can't recall, (When you look at this thread and the names of the serious pros all owning one or two Kanayamas.)a time when a bullish attitude to your credit card saw a sane man fork out a couple of hundred for a strop. Don't get me wrong, but it is marketing genius, that has created an aura around the kanayama strop. Look on the net, there wouldn't be more than a couple of vendors on the globe, offering the full range. Most have none. Don't we just love this, grown men weak at their knees over a bloody strop, mind you a good one! lol
