    I will have to give the steaming a try, I work doing upholstery so Monday I will go into work an steam it an use a roller on it as I've already tried to fix it at home without steam because I didn't want it to separate from the leather worse case if it comes loose I will put a different thickness linen on because it's thin and fraying a little on the edges an I don't want to put heat on it an make it hard or sharp.

    I wonder if it came from the manufacturer in that condition ? I did a google search, web and images, for 'eel strrop' and then for eel skin. Plenty of listings for eel skin, but only the Saponificio varesino photo they have on their website as far as the strop goes.

    Not sure myself I still wonder if it's all eel or if it's just the handle an hanger area because I can't find a definite answer. The strop doesn't look like any of my other strops as far a grain an I have bison, horse, cow stops an have handled elk an pig.
