Default My new tri + 'paddle' strop

Having a lot of scrap leather in my shop and some 'found' pieces of 1/2"+ thick plastic at work (used for mounting laptops in our squad cars) Along with scrap pieces of cherry 1x's ai had in the shop, I decided to make me a new strop. While it is too large for every day use (3 1/4" x 20") , it will come in handy for re-hones on SR's, as well as other blades.

I seen one similar here in SRP and decided to try my hand at one.

The 1/2"+ thick plastic was cut on 60 degree angles to form a triangle. Drilled and counter sunk screws, along with epoxy, secured all 3 pieces. Even though they 'appeared' to be flat, running each side under a drum sander(in a jig) trued them perfectly flat.

One side holds the final leather side, glued on.

One side holds the linen, which is glued on, too.

One side has a thin magnet glued on. This is for the pasted leather pieces, which have a magnet glued on as well, for easy on/off. 3 pieces: 1 pasted with Red, 1 Black and 1 Cr-Ox.

The base is made from cherry. I have yet to MinWax and Tung oil it. But, you get the point.
