Strops to me are like razors and other shaving accoutrements. Like many, I've sampled several different strops, and in recent times I have found that Kanayama strops are my kinda strop. I bought a #70000 about 6 Months ago, fell in love with the performance, style and overall uniqueness. I have since acquired 3 more, another #70000, an #80000 and a #10000 (with suede piece). Do I need them? Yes, I feel great about having them, I gain pleasure in mucking around with them. Oh and one important thing, they give me great edges on my razors!. Merry Xmas guys, Bob.

Well I did pull the trigger on a buffalo strop from SRD and will see how I like that. It says it is a thinner strop than the heavy leather one I have now.
Thanks for all the input. And I agree, we need all we can get Bob

Let me know how that's one works for you. I have a new Roo strop, which I finally get to start using now that my Wackers are back. Only other type I've used is a 3" latigo from srd. I used it for a few years but last year it was spoiled in a car wreck. I'm interested in how other strops behave comparatively speaking without having to buy them all to find out.

i've two good strops (better than other i have) to use after honing. but at most of the time before shaving and after shave i use ZY which i keep in bathroom. they do the job and i don't afraid if they are infected by water. so it's good to have few good leather strops and few more less good. by the way this is my personnal opinion, it can depend for each member.

i need to say i still look for a better quality of strop to buy but they are expensive as cordovan's.

I believe the Premier and SRD strops are identical other than imprints.

I had a classic shaving 3 Inch 'mountain' strop, it was my 3Rd strop, and it got me to a point where I had no fear nicking the things. The 1St strop was a Russian style 2 inch thing that I destroyed in short order. Now, four or five years down the track. (time flys) I made the joyous discovery of Horse shell leather, and I bought my 1St Kanayama, a #10000. Love at 1st sight, and for the first 3 months, no nicks, great edges, and now, a year down the track, my collection if you can call it that stretches to 2 x #70000's an #80000 and the #10000. My everyday strop is the #70000, as one does, I fondle them, and give them monthly palm rubs. But, some way down the track, I foresee Kanayama evolving through new models, like the latest #4560 with the handle and widened canvas piece. So who knows what will happen, some lucky fella might end up with one of my NOS strops some years off. who knows?

It seems the Kanayama strops are the creme da la creme of strops
Maybe one day, but I have a long way to go before I'd attempt using one. My skills are good, but not great
