    This is my second one I snagged off the bay. First one I'm using now, needed a little tlc. Did anyone else see it? These strops are Rock Stars!

    Well, the second one is not here yet. But I can post my first one. Hold on....here we go...
    No cracking but some innocuous cuts along the rim. I love the smell of it, heavy pipe tobacco... I think that is why it was in such nice supple condition, it was saturated with nicotine oils. Oh, and yes I did install a new firehose.... saved the older linen one and put it on my old Carborundum branded strop.

    Hey ! That was my strop !!!

    Just kidding ..... but all of mine for sure smell like that ..... and it is known fact that pipe tobacco residue greatly improves the effectiveness of strops and hones......

    My favorite strop. I got one off ebay about seven years ago. I use it daily.
    It'll stay by my side until I kick the bucket.

    Bad news, leather is hard, dried out beyond repair. Back side was so bad you could easily dig the leather out with your finger nail. I really wanted this one to because it was virtually flawless otherwise. Well the canvas was dark brown that that could have been easily remedied. She's going back for a refund. I'll keep my eyes open for the next one......
