    Just gonna throw this out there .. Being a professional firefighter ,I have seen these hoses sit in a toxic bath of chemically infested waters for hours during operation at a fire scene. Bleach imo will be the only cleaning agent that will properly kill all the toxins in the hose.. Then again were just running a piece of metal that touches this linen across our face..what do I know lol

    NOS Scottish unlined flax linen firehouse in daily use for years with no pilling.
    My father was an engineer. He used to tell me that sharpening a straight razor is like trying to build a ladder to the moon out of a roll of aluminum foil.

    Me too. I have washed it,soaked it,beat on it with wooden meat tenderizing mallet followed by a rubber mallet and it is soft and pliable with no pilling or any other issue. It is very tuff stuff that seems to improve with harsh treatment.
