Strop Restoration Advise
Today I got a hold of this strop from a retired Barber .
It was in his loft for a few years and now sold to me . I cant wait to get it in working order.
My other strop is a Kanayama 90000 . Now I have another Cordovan strop. This one is two pieces. 18inches x nearly 6cm.
No chips or slices but some parts need sanding down.
I have up to 3k wet n dry paper but I don't wanna touch it until I get some good advise. It does seem a bit filthy with metal in places also.
I do have some Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil & Prestine Clean ?
Thanks

Thanked: 634I would do a good cleaning on the leather with a brush and saddle soap. When Dru treat with neetsfoot oil. The canvas can be cleaned with a toothbrush and dishwashing soap. You will need to put a plastic bag and newspaper between leather and canvas. Try to rinse canvas well and dry flat.

There is no canvas. It is 2 pieces of leather ..
I have done a bit of research now.. I don't think that the Shell Horsehide is actually Cordovan and I might just go ahead with the Leatherique , although I did try this product before and wasn't that impressed ..
Leatherique / Fine sanding / Neetsfoot oil..

Thanked: 3228I don't know, Cordovan leather is often referred to as Shell Cordovan and is from 2 small spots on the horse's rump. Seems like Horse Shell could possibly be another name for it.
