Thread: Strop Bundle from the Bay

Just could not help myself when I saw this strop bundle. Package arrived yesterday and was a happy man. I primarily wanted the TM Horsehide triple strop which has been out of production for years. Also interested in the SRD strops. The TM Horsehide was still in the original package, unused. The two SRD are in great shape as well, one does have some superficial scrapes but the other is near mint, no flaws. Not sure but believe both strops are the SRD #1 Premium leather and linen. The Dovo looks OK and will make a nice travel strop. Also included in the bundle was a quality Kent badger shaving brush and a Jagger shaving mug, a 4/8K Norton stone and flattener. Can't discuss prices but a great deal nonetheless. Just to share and appreciate comments, especially on the SRD dupes? Thanks, Austin

I put in a "reasonable" offer on that kit as well because I wanted the SRD strops. Even at the full asking price it was a great deal, but I already have too many items that need to be liquidated and didn't want to add to the pile. I haven't had the pleasure of using any of those strops except an old Dorko branded model which seems identical to your Dovo and it is quite pleasant in use and should work very well for your intended purposes. This is my first experience with SRD strops. I have several other TM strops including the #2 Heirloom and really like them. The SRD strops have a nice draw and are really thick 4mm, similar to the old certifyd horsehide strops. The quality of the SRD strops look superb. I am a new fan.

Nice. I am glad it went to a good home. I am on a buying break. I will resume some time after I get my stuff organized. I think you did very well.
