Also the Frictionite 00 was pretty much brand new when I bought it. The tags on the side were pretty pristine and it came in a green bag. FWIW. The Green hone says Emerald Pike on it and the other stone is a sort of dull red. Both seem pretty shiny.
Years ago on the ranch in Nebraska the men used to use their barber hones to put a sharp edge on their pocket knives for casteration at branding time. They would always spit on the stone to wet it.
