Thanked: 38Razor strop for razor shell cordovan Spanish barbera -Quercur
Greetings fellas, anyone have any experience with this particular strop? Seller is from Spain and sells through Etsy. I have a Tony Miller and this looks perfect to augment that strop. Wondering if this is actually shell cordovan? For 68 bucks, I am skeptical seeing as shell cordovan strops usually command prices in the upper 200 to 300 dollar range.

Thanked: 38Yeah...I'm having a tough time pulling a picture but Quercur.com is the website and if you put "strop" in the search field, it comes up as Asentador para navaja barbera en shell cordovan español. I will keep trying.

Thanked: 1082Hmmm, If I was selling Shell Cordovan id definitely say where it came from.
There are only 5 tanneries in the world that I know of that make Shell Cordovan: Horween, USA, Joseph Clayton and sons,England. Shinki-Hikaku Co. Japan. Conceria Cloe and Rocado SRL from Italy.
Just going by price id have to guess that it wasnt shell. Buying, making and at a profit for 55 euros? Seems doubtful...

I don't think this is cordovan, but it may well be a horsie. It looks fantastic, the fit and finish, to me looks very well done. Nice stitches, beveled edges... I'd get one just to try.
As the time passes, so we learn.

Strops look well made. Leather seems a bit thin to me for shell cordovan. Price is a bit low IMHO.

Yes, a bit thin, this is why I think they are asking a low price for them. They may also have been tanned in China and sent back to Spain or the leather (if it is Shell) may have originated in China and was finished in Spain. This is a very common practice with goods here in America.
