I have 2 pieces of single walled firehose. One is stamped Flax and the other is stamped linen. From the reading I have done firehose only used flax as the material. Cotton never made the grade.
Flax and linen are made from the same material, just a different level of processing is used and that can vary by quite a bit.
The term "linen" has been used to describe the weave and also to describe the "finish" of belting made from cotton.

My linen fire-hose strops get stiff pretty fast. Must beat them up a while to get them soft again.

I did change my order to the 2.5 inch. And he replyed with "he recommends the 2.5 inch anyway because he thinks the x stroke is better on stropping".

Cant wait to get the firehose. I still need to pick up the hardware for them. Just too many things going on.
I also got a boar strop coming in the mail from Sharppton. When will strop A.D. stop.

So the scruple works linen is fire hose, or they have fire hose available? I didn't see it mentioned on their site.

The scruplewerks linen I have sure does not represent itself as fire hose. Much lighter IMO.

I’m actually quite fond of the SRD premium cotton.

I have this available for my friends. You want Vintage, and single walled, the double is lined with rubber.
Back when 2.5 inches width was standard. I sent some to Gasman.
I will have to look around the station! I do have a section similar to that I obtained from Randy Tuttle...just never put it to use.

Just to clean this up if i can. I ordered the Flax linen from scrupleworks and i also have some firehose coming from a fine member here. Hoping they will both feel the same. That would be really cool!
