    Default Deer hide

I have some deer hide that I have. I am going to have a friend that tans turn them into gloves, but there's extra that I was considering turning into a strop. My question is who has tried one, and what did you think? would it be worth it?

I am new to strait razor, but I have these ideas that I want to try, and is 1 of many reasons I got into this "other" addiction.

Tried to make one out of a large beaver tail once... Won't recommend
I cannot speak to deerhide. Strikes me as probably too think and soft to do a truly great job. But then again, people use newspaper effectively, so it may get the job done. Certainly shouldn't strop you from trying!

wonder if a stiffer tanning method such a bark tanning (Veg tanned) would make a more suitable leather for a strop ?
