Nope, he is just taking a sabatical in order to work on repairing a victorian house he bougth ... at least thats what he put in his facebook page fpr all customers to read. Alsonthis is what he commented in private communjcation with some of us that were.in the buying list

So nonworries.. i guess he will be back in business in a few months!

I think he has some still for sale, just not going to be making anything for a while. I'd say to contact him and see what he has thats ready to go.

yeah i think he had one kanagaqrroo and one horse but those were sold... nevertheless, maybe if you message him

Yup - I got the Kangaroo strop, it's on the way...I'd been popping into his site for years, always missed getting one, just happened by as I was surfing and BAM!

...it's on the way, already retired an old strop and the spot it waiting.

He's finishing up the last of his orders . Said he plans to resume after his renovation project is completed in 18 months or so .

Alastair' strops are fantastic! His workmanship is impeccable and he's a nice person to work with.

I have one of his Cordovan shell strops and it kicked my others to the curb (other than a SRD strop I kept to use after honing, I let those others go recently). The linen he uses is awesome and the leather is gorgeous.

I was fortunate to have ordered one of his new Horween "Heavy Horse" strops just as he announced he was stepping back from making many strops while he renovates his new home. It just arrived yesterday and it's a lovely piece of craftsmanship; haven't ran a blade on it yet, but that's coming soon!

sweet strop too man!!! heavy horse! I'm sure this will be a sweeeeet ride for any blade!!!

I got my second Westholme strop in September..Alastair called it 'Double Horse Fronts' then, it's from Horween so I presume it is the same material. I love it, quite a heavy draw and as Alastair recommended really benefits from a vigorous hand rub before use.
I also have Kanayama 60k and they are streets apart, the second surfaces couldn't be further apart either..
from the coarse rasp of the Kanayama to the soft swish of the linen on the Westholme, then the glassy almost drawless leather on the Kanayama to the slight drag of the textured surface on the Westholme.
Both produce excellent edges I can't say one beats the other it's just 'different horses for different courses'
