Thanked: 25Strop Information for Newbies
For you guys out there just getting started straight razor shaving I wanted to say a word about Strops.
Lots of good, quality, really nice strops available. I have about a dozen strops and honestly I believe that the strops being produced and sold by SRD are as nice as anything out there.
To you new guys; please don't put anything on your beautiful new leather strop. What I mean is don't put strop dressing, or paste, chromium oxide or anything on your strop! Massage it with your palms. Make sure it stays clean. Strop slowly so you don't nick, cut, slice or scratch your strop. Maybe once a year put a few drops of Neatsfoot oil on the strop and massage it in to your strop with your palms.
Neatsfoot oil will keep the leather from drying or cracking over time. But it only takes a few drops!!! Neatsfoot oil will also give the strop more draw. English Bridle is my favorite strop leather and it's pretty fast but I like it that way. If you purchase English Bridle go with the 3" Long version from SRD.

Thanked: 4Alastair said that he would return to do strops at the end of 2018 - early 2019, but there is still no information.
Does anyone know what is happening with Alastair? Does he intend to resume making strops?
