Thanked: 2Erza Arthur Strops
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with Erza Arthur strops? They apparently sell mostly shell cordovan strops. I saw a nice 3" horsehide one I might get. It's $150.00 though. I have 3 SRD hanging strops and want to try a few others as well. Any thoughts?

Thanked: 4828They are a recent rebrand. They used to be Bison strops but I’m guessing they got bought out. They are very nice strops.

I see the 3” is out of stock, but man, that 2.5” to me is more desirable! I love 2.5’s.
Dang it! Now I want one.David

I don't know about their strops but I have one of their belts and it's really top notch, heavy duty.

Thanked: 2Thanks for the clarification RezDog. I was wondering about that because I remember Bison from a while back and that's actually what I searched for when this strop came up. It looks like they still have the Bison pictured in their logo though.
thebigspendur: Sweet. Well their slogan is "made for life" so I'd hope it's good quality.
I think I'll pick one up anyway and check them out. Thanks!

I looked at those awhile back but then I started pairing down and now have just four strops ( Westholme Cordovan, TM Spanish Bridle, Kanayama 50 and a Scrupleworks HH ) they look top quality and would like to try one but just can’t justify the cost to add another strop.

It seems HarryWally has one of the horse hides. He was extolling it's virtues a while back.

I have used the 2.5" Bison Horsehide it as a lovely draw.

Anyone have or used their bridle strop? I love the 2.5” width. Would love the cordovan but holy cow is it expensive.

I am sure I will hear some negative comments but in all honesty a strop regardless does one thing and that is maintain the edge of our straights, so ones that are made with Cordovan, tanned HH, fast bridle, English bridle, Roo etc... all do the same thing and what drives the cost up is how readily that material is and what personal embellishments that particular maker does to that strop and then there is of course the draw and size of the strop, some prefer a heavy draw and some like a fast glassy draw and some of us like 3” wide and some like 2.5”.
It all comes does to what you want to pay for but to me leather is leather for strops, I have used all sorts of strops over several years and I mean a lot and yes I do have Cordovan, Spanish Bridle, tanned HH, english or fast bridle and to be honest my edges cannot tell the difference from what they are stropped on but then I’m the guy that does only 25 laps on linen and leather for pre shave and 10/10 on post ."A Honer's adage "Hone-Shave-Repeat"
