    Lots of the old American secondaries were impregnated with that stuff. It makes the strop feel hard, but does not seem to have any adverse effect.
    Hard to see them so nice and clean. Most are grungy and caked/cracked. Hard to get some of it out and you lose the letters as they were stamped on top of it.

    Might just have a go of that Tom, I would imagine when that was first applied it wouldn't have been so hard and stiff, over the decades it as lost its pliable quality.

    Wow that is nice! Only strops I've found were too rough to bother with.
