Thanked: 0Is this Strop useable with this scratch?
I received this Strop in the mail today and when I unpacked it I saw this scratch. It's my first strop ever so I don't know if it's okay or if I should send it back. What do you guys think? It's not super deep. I can feel it a little bit when I go over it with my finger.

Send it back. For your first ever strop, get a clean surface. Let all the scratches
be your own."If you come up to it, and you just can't do it, then that's jolly well where you are."

Thanked: 4826That should be ok. As long as it is clean and the blade isn’t catching on it. Sometimes you can have mini flaps that the blade catches on, which will likely mess up your strokes.
Report it to the vendor and either get it replaced or a discount. It’s not up to new standards. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Hi from Ontario, pleased to meet you.
Where are you from and what are you shaving with?
We love pictures.- - Steve

Did you buy it as a NEW strop, or used? Did he say anything about the scratch in the listing or was the scratch visable in the listing? If it was listed as new then send it back. If used then see what deal you can make as being new to straight razors you dont need to learn to strop around a scratch.

BTW, as far as does the scratch mater, my opinion is if you can feel it when stropping then it could be causing issue with your edge. JMO. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
