Default W M Marvy Siberian strop

Just finished restoring this W M Marvy Siberian Russian-tanned strop. It had a small, but deep nick out of one side which I patched with leather from a doner stop that was beyond repair. I can find no reference on any forums or elsewhere online to this strop, but I did find the WM Marvy company is still in operation and is the only remaining manufacturer of barber poles in the US…I emailed the company and asked if they knew when it was made and got a reply from Mr Marvy himself (the founder’s grandson) suggesting it dated to the 1940s….although they had never seen one like it either. It’s a very fine strop.

That's awesome! I often tell people to do just what you did: contact the manufacturer. I too have had very good luck with that.

    Thanks for sharing.
