    Default Horse hide strop

I picked up a vintage horse hide strop at a consignment store. I can’t quite make out the logo—House of (illegible) Vancouver BC. It’s wide and pretty long and has a nice feel but has been used a lot. The fabric is qenuine Royal Irish linen.

Is horse hide a good material for a strop.

I'm sure the horse doesn't think so.

I have never owned one but I know horse hide is revered by many people as a strop.

Probably what's considered to be the most premium razor strop out there, I doubt you'll find a finer material than horsehide shell cordovan. I have 2 horsehide strops and I prize them for a superb glassy draw , the sound the blade makes as it glides across those strops is music to my ears and brings a smile to my face!

I have had a Horse Hide Hoffritz strop for over 30 years. Still my best strop though well worn.
