Thread: Strop, but not StropPING.

I don't know if this is the right section... I put it here because it wasn't actually about stropPING.

I'll try to keep this short. I bought a TM Horsehide and Nylon and couldn't wait for it to arrive... WHen I checked the shipping status today, Uhoh. It shipped to my Campus mail box in Alliance, Ohio... I forgot to change my shipping address to Wadsworth, Ohio, where I will reside until the 10th of January (Winter Break). My question is How well will a strop hold up in a shipping box, if it must stay there from now until the 10th of January? Before using a strop, I usually take a smooth glass bottle (Usually beer bottle, if that makes any difference) and lay the strop flat on my desk, then rub back and forth on it to smooth it down perfectly flat (I use 3 inch strops). If I do this bottle method on the Horsehide after picking it up, it should be just fine... Right?

Thanks guys, hope this oversight doesn't damage one of Mr. Miller's beautiful strops!

IME Tony packs his strops in a manner that will insure that it gets to you in fine shape. It won't bother it to sit there until you get to it.... if you can stand to wait.

Honestly, I think the wait will hurt me more than the strop! But I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't deform... My last TM had a very nice, gentle curl in the package, so it wasn't harmed at all, but I picked it up straight away... However, this one does not have handles, so I fear for it less.

Yeah, Jimmy's right. Tony packs his stops in such a way that it should be fine. If the box isn't climate controlled, it may be a little stiff when you get it, but other than that, it should be fine.

If the wait is too much for you, you could always just go get it.
