Thread: Buying Chromium Oxide

I have been researching the forums, and it seems that the Chromium Oxide from handamerican is the stuff to get.
My plan is to use it on a paddle leather strop to hone my razor, but which version should I get for this use? The liquid or the dry version?

i bought the dry and it has lasted over three years and i have given away a lot of it and have over half of it left. i just mix it with a little netsfoot oil and spread it on whai ever i need to but i have learned that a little is all you need there is a post in the wiki about how to paste take a look at it it will help.

I too am looking at getting some Chromium Oxide and have been looking closely at the stuff they have a SRD, but my question is how does pasting a paddle stop with the rough leather differ from pasting a strop that has smooth leather. I thought that I read some people have had trouble with the paste clumping when using the TI paste on a TI paddle strop. But of course the Chromium Oxide that SRD has would be a different paste so would react in a different manner at least I would assume.

He definatly had it as I ordered some about a year ago from him... then mis-placed it lol

It was cheap and he shipped it very fast !

I use the CrOx stick from SRD. I've been applying it like a crayon on the rough leather side of my paddle strop.

When I applied the ChrOx to my paddle strop, I rub it on the entire surface and then with the palm of my hand I rub the entire surface to spread it evenly. If not satisfied with the results, I repeat the process until I get the entire surface evenly covered.
