    Similar to what everyone said.
    Lay some kitchen towel { paper variety} on a flat surface ,then sprinkle some talc over it .Place strop shiny side up on top of this .Add more talc onto shiny surface of strop followed by another layer of kitchen towel .Iron carefully on a low but reasonable setting re-newing talc and paper as required.

    Works a treat
