    Default Strop hanging level

I thought I would chime in and see if anyone else does this. I have found that I enjoy having a strop hook bolted in at my mid chest level. Instead of pulling the strop out and up..I pull it out and downward. I think its just more ergonomically friendly. Does anyone else place their strops this high, or am I the only one?

I have read about guys hooking them on a towel rack which is high. I use a door knob which puts it about waist high for me. This is roughly where the pro barbers strop would hang when hooked to the arm of their barber chairs.

AFDavis posted that elbow high is best but I am so used to my door knob height that I am going to leave welll enough alone.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Yes...

I have always liked stropping at a slight angle either up or down it doesn't really matter... IMHO it makes it easier to use less pressure then a perfectly flat strop does, but that is just me...

Personally I am partial to stropping slightly upward... hook higher than holding hand...

I hook my strap on the door handle, just the right height for me, and slightly angled also.

I hook my strop on a towel rack about chest level and have it angled slightly up and it seems to work well, i tried it on a door handle and i dint feel as confident as i did at the chest level imho

    Cool

    Isaac,

For those really long strops I like to fasten the top end to a large screw hook threaded through the ceiling finish and into a joist then down to the floor, weaving it through a 12" concrete block, then up and around the lever on the bathroom door lock, which will give it just about the right anchoring for my freight train like tug and a reasonable height for 15 or 20 minutes of the old forth and back.

glad to be able to help,

I normally strop at waist high & level. But I gave my son a strop with his razor for Christmas and the other day I noticed he had hung it on the towel hook on the back of the bathroom door.

I tried it out at about a 45 degree angle, chest high and found it very comfortable.
