I had purchased a pasted two sided leather strop a year ago. After using it for a few days I had gashed the hell out of it. I was upset that my $50 investment had been ruined in such a short period of time. I was using 1/2 the strop; then a 1/4; etc. I was going to buy another strop but I was not sure what to do with the old one.

I read some of the threads here on fixing strops. I decided to give it a try. I examined the strop carefully. I noticed a few gashes where the leather was cut out. I took some toothpicks and some duco cement and carefully glued those pieces back onto the leather.

I also had many slits. I used the duco cement with the toothpicks to fill in the slits. The cement hardened. I used a nail file to file down the surfaces until everything was even.

I have a very nice strop again. Thanks SRP!!!
