A touching gesture: Illinois Strop
Hello everyone,
To make a long story short, a dear friend of mine lost his father last Saturday. I was close to his father as well, and I wanted to be with my friend so I flew out west to be with them for the funeral this weekend. When I arrived, I was humbled and deeply touched at what was waiting for me. Apparently my friend's father kept most of his fathers belongings, and his father (my buddy's grandfather) was a professional barber.
To make a long story short, the family decided that they would like me to have the grandfather's shaving equipment since the father was no longer there to keep it and since I am like part of the family. I was completely shocked, because I didn't ever know the grandfather was a barber, or ever had interest in that sort of thing, but apparently the family took notice of my hobby and set that aside for me some time ago. That said, I was honored to receive a #127 Illinois strop that is in absolutely perfect condition. My pictures are from my phone, so I apologize for the lack of detail, but there isn't a nick or scratch on this wonderfully cared for strop. This will be a cherished treasure for as long as I live.
Cheers
