A week ago I ripped out a knee on a very nice pair of linen slacks. I was very displeased with this, and held on to them for a week. I was about to throw them out, just now, when I had an idea...


...real linen strop components? Yes please!


Anyone have tips for cutting/fitting the material so that it doesn't fray apart?

First it depends on how thick the material is. You could use a backing if its very thin though you would have to hem it all around so it doesn't frey.

Iron-on fusible webbing-sticky on both sides. Use butcher paper underneath to protect your ironing board and NOT your good iron. Sulky makes it.

Use 4 times the width, fold the cut edges in toward the middle over fusible webbing, iron, then fold again, ironing a strip of fusible webbing between. With this many layers, you'll need the thinner webbing.

The only stitching will be on the ends, where you fold over a strip of metal, etc.
