    Default 2 vs 3

    Good morning all,
I am going to purchase a new strop as I am not satisfied with the Illinois 206 strop that I have. The cutler I purchased it from had limited information to give on razor care and only stocked that one brand. Having used it I feel that the leather is very stiff, the length insufficient (13") and the width (2") a bother to boot. I'm also still very new to this and these features only seem to aggravate the learning process. So what I'd like to know is what other varieties, widths (2 vs 3), lengths, brands, etc that other shavers use. I am strongly considering purchasing the latigo 3" on lynn's website. Any other suggestions?
Thank you all for your time,
    Josh

I don't have one, but have heard only good things about it. I have also heard good things about the bridle. Your 13in strop sounds short but thats preferance, I'm using a 8" paddle lately. Width is also a preferance, the wider it is the less of an X pattern you have use.
The stiffness isn't particually a bad thing. The draw of the blade is the important part. If you would like to work the stiffness out of it a couple of drops of neatsfoot oil or leather treatment and run it back and forth on a bottle/edge of table. It has also been recommended that you run the palm of you hand across the leather. The oils in your skin will help condition the leather.

I personally like SRD's premium 1 very much. Welcome to SRP.
