I owned a 827 and it worked fine for me. It started warping and shrinking in places so I took it back to the vendor and upgraded to a TM strop.
IMO their is a huge difference of quality when talking about these 2 strops, but at the end of the day, they both can get the job done

I have an Illinois strop and two leather strops that I bought from the local leather shop. 1 is a brown tanned piece & 1 red latigo...I liked the latigo piece so much that that has become my finish strop and the brown and Illinois are pasted...Total cost for leather peices was 10$..So, I think it is just preference.

Thanked: 3My Illinois has a very light draw compared to latigo and veggie tanned ones. I use mine as a finishing strop.
