    Default Filly strop

Keeping in mind im new at this, I received a filly strop from rup razor, and one side has green residue on it..what is it, and do I work it into the strop or what? When I grab my strop I end up getting it on my hands, any help would be appreciated.

"The rough side is treated with 0.5µ chromium oxide for the occasional edge tune up"
Strop regularly on the leather side...use the "green" side for touch ups. I asked Ken the same question, and his reply:

"The chromium oxide on the rough side of the strop will last many years. Even it starts to turn black from steel accumulation it will still perform very well. I recommend using the rough side every four or five shaves and then only four or five laps. I do this on my strop and I have razors that have not been on a hone in over a year. "
    Enjoy your new Filly!

That was my first strop too and I love it. I use it more than my tony miller strop!
