Thread: new old strop

I recently found an old strop from a barber school in great condition. I was wondering if there was anything I could/should do to disinfect it. Also, I was wondering what to do with a strop that has become smooth. I had read about using a pumice stone which I tried but have not noticed much of a difference. I am also not sure if I need to do anything to the old strop or if I can use it as-is. Thanks in advance for your help.

From what you describe I would think you could use it straight away. But if you are concerned about disenfecting, you could try applying shaving lather.
