Default Do old (used) strops need to be disinfected?

I bought an old strop that used to be in a barber school and I was wondering if I need to disinfect it. Thank you in advance for your help.

I would just clean it with saddle soap, let it air dry for a day or two and then rub in some neatsfoot oil.

Unless it has some off smell to it or has little critters growing on it I wouldn't worry. Like has been said any quality leather cleaner and then something to condition and you should be OK.
