Default I am making myself a strop

Today, I ordered a Straight Razor Designs 3" Red Latigo Leather Strop Replacement and I will make a strop from it.

I realized that I wanted a personalized one and as I already experimented with leather, knots tying, and wood carving, I could make myself a super special leather strop.

So I will make a wood handle, carved a little bit if possible, and could add a decorative knot somewhere. As I just ordered the leather strop, I will work on a design while waiting for it.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

On a side note slowly making my hand at stropping on a leather strop, I even began to use the cheap strop with a wood carving knife. And I must say that I will benefit from this. I found a better and faster way to strop my wood carving knives on a leather strop. I use the same technique than for straight razors and it works very well.

    Until then, keep on stropping,

    Gilles

No pictures yet, but yesterday I received the leather strop. Wow, its a lot better than the cheap strop I bought for a practice.

    Very good product.

I love the Latigo leather feeling for now. I don't know why but I never did any nick on any other strops I tried, and right at the beginning I did a couple of small ones while tring it. No big ones and at a place where it won't matter, but it will affect the look a tiny bit...

Maybe I was trying too much to NOT hit the strop with the cutting side of the blade and that it made it happen...

Ok, I draw a template on paper and will cut the wood handle today that I will use to carve a design. I am still not sure about what design I will use??? Celtic or else...
