Seal Skin Strop
I was running through an antique shop the other day doing my typical scanning and this caught my eye...
So, obviously I took a closer look...
Thoughts on this? anyone ever used one?
I left it there...they had $18.50 on it, and I thought it to be a bit pricey to buy as an experiment.
It was incredibly soft and supple, and felt great though. no nicks too!
Interested to see if anyone has ever used on here.

No but if it was me I would have offered $10 bucks since it is in good condition. I bet it would be good. IIRC I've seen a strop or two with that marked on it on the bay over the last couple of years.

Standard dimensions for barber strops used to be 2 1/2" x 24" and I'll bet that is what that is.

Thanked: 530Hey, I've heard of seal skin and whale skin strops. Quite rare and, reportedly, very nice...
But if you don't want it... I'll take it off your hands...

I used to have one. They work like any other strop. They do the job.
