    Default Pate a Rasoir

    Has anyone used this paste:

Geo F Trumper - Strops - Strop Paste

Someone sent this to me as a present and I am unsure how to apply it to my rough leather of my paddle strop. I can't seem to find any instructions. Is it the same as the TI paste?

Look forward to your thoughts. Thank you.

Is it a white paste? I got some that came in exactly the same packet, about half the size of an AA battery and its a white chalk paste in a kind of a crayon.

I just rubbed a light coating onto the linen side of my pasted strop, works great as a final polish after CrOx when honing or as a very mild touch up paste.

If its the same stuff, just rub a light coating onto the rough leather of your paddle strop and give it a few hours to dry on. It should be good to go after that.

If its a different colour paste or a larger packet or something, hold off until someone else who's used it can chime in with an approximate grit size and usage tips. I wouldnt want you to paste a strop with the wrong stuff..!

    Good luck!

    Hi,

The TI pate applies best to linen/canvas/webbing, and the strop surface can be a little sticky after application & drying.
I have not had very good luck using it on leather, smooth or rough, as the pate has a tendency to clump together like rubber (eraser) crumbs.

However, on linen/canvas/webbing it works very well, and I very much like the edges it produces

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

my findings is the same as russ. This stuff leaves a smooth sharp edge as final honing, great as touch. works much better on canvas strop . I tryed it on paddle and it did'nt seem to be as efective. Just draw it on lightly and rub it well in. Its the only paste you will need. some guys say it course paste . The edge it leaves is as smooth as a coticule and i use both.
