    Default Kanayama better look out

In spite of the title of the thread Kanayama needn't worry. I made a strop but I'm not jumping on the bandwagon and it ain't for sale. A friend of mine was going to get into making strops so he bought two pieces of horse butt from Keith at HandAmerican a couple of years ago. My friend had a lot of ambition in the abstract but very little when it came to doing it.

Recently he had to move from Florida to Alaska of all places and gave the leather to me. I made this strop and a couple of guitar straps. Gave one guitar strap to a friend and kept the other. So here is the strop with the genuine NASCAR shoulder harness fabric component. A friend works for Roush Racing and they have to replace it after so many hours so use and he turned me onto one that would have been trashed. Works nice. The guitar strap I kept is in the picture as well.

That's very cool. If your friend wants to lighten his trips to the dump. I'm sure there are plenty of guys here who could take some of that harness material off his hands.

Nice looking strop, Jimmy. Where did you get the hardware from? Looks pretty nifty.

Very nice! I wish I was able to make things that nice, especially the guitar straps!

The hardware came from Keith at HandAmerican. If he ever gets his webpage up I guess it will be available.

I copied my buddy's strap. I made one for him and two for me. The dye came from ebay and the sealer. A straight edge and sharp slotted carpet blades did the rest. Close up they aren't on a pro level but not bad and they work and are all I need.
