    Way to go Jimmy!
Yep it starts out with one a day and then it's 2 and on and on.

You should take the money you were spending on liquor and put it in a jar each week and see how much money you were throwing away in 6 nonths.

I could take a super vacation off what my brother and his wife spend in that time. Take a 7 day cruise with my wife and grandchild.

    You can do it.

Keep at it, Jimmy. Every drink you don't buy is another antique razor you can buy

    Good luck!

The 3" strop will service almost all razors.

A 4/8 -- 8/8 all strop the same because the toe to heel length is
almost exactly the same. The numbers 4/8, 5/8,
6/8 etc refer to a measurement from the spine to
to the edge not to the length of the razor.

    There are some exceptions....
A 2" strop may prove advantageous
at a couple levels. One is that
the X stroke is not a problem once mastered.
Selection of a thinner strop by the leather cutter
can result in a better surface depending on
the location of imperfections on the hide.
Cost is another exception, a less expensive slightly
longer but narrower strop feels better to me than
a short but wider hanging strop.

    I happen to like a 2 1/2" strop.
It lets my habitual X stroke play better
than they might on a three inch wide strop.
If I was learning it would not matter which.
And what ever I learned on would be what I like .
My 3" strop is pasted and I use it with slow
deliberate almost honing (no X) strokes with
it in contrast to slightly faster stropping
    strokes.

    Hi Jimmy,
The greatest saints were many times the worst of sinners. No doubt you are a great man. I doubt there is anyone who has been as helpful as you for wise advice and council. I nominate you as one of the greatest "Patron Saints of the Arts of Straight Shaving and Honing"

That is the nice thing about the SRP modular paddle strop. Just buy a new leather pad.

I had not read your thread until just now Jimmy - it looks like a good save. Did you reattach the hardware ignoring the clipped third hole, or make some further alterations?
Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

I did reattach the hardware and it is fine. No further alterations. The leather is 2 1/2 and the webbed fabric is as it was. The 1/2 removed on the one side has no negative effect in pulling the strop taut evenly. Working quite nicely and so far no further damage.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
