Thanked: 3Source for strop leather?
Anyone have recommendations of online retailers to purchase strop leather?
Or perhaps someone with a good source might consider becoming a dealer/vendor?

A lot of guys use tandy leather for their strops. They work just fine. I've also seen some where people have purchased replacement pieces from manufacturers and attached their own hardware.
But if your ambitious I have a couple head of cattle out back you can flog and strip if you wish. They have been very destructive.
Just kidding by the way. I don't want any nasty letters.

Thanked: 1587I'd be careful of online leather sales. It is often useful to see the hides in the flesh to check out their surface for scars and scratches etc.

Thanked: 199Check out your local Tandy Leather store. I have 2 strops I made from their leather and I believe they are excellent. I also had a thread in here somewhere talking about the choices for types of leather, etc.

Thanked: 13245Being as I live in the Boonies of North Idaho I do a ton of online shopping but the one thing I can get, is leather,,,, The Boot repair shop in town always has some very well tanned leather for soles that he has cut for me into exact lengths and widths...
Another source is anyone who works leather in your area think Tack Shops for horses, they have Bridle and Saddle leather on hand that you can touch and feel... Fabric stores sometimes carry it for use in making Straps and Belts...

Thanked: 74If you want to pay top dollar, contact Horween. I have seen strops made by a member of Badger and Blade being sold that were made of Horween Cordovan leather. The reason that I know this is that the backside of the leather has the Horween stamp.
Here is a link:

Good luck!

Thanked: 3Thanks for the info. I checked out Tandy Leather and noticed I have one in about 2 hour drive. I might also try to find a shoe/boot repair shop too.
Where are people getting canvas/linen/genuine linen?
