Show me how warn your strop daily strop is.
I would appreciate it if experienced users would post pictures of their daily use strops in order to show other users who might worry too much about their strops not being usable anymore because of a little nick or nicks in them. (Experienced users only please) that doesn't mean you have to have a lot of posts just please use your judgement about how experienced you think you are. Not to knock any newer members or medium experienced members like myself but rather to limit the body and range of opinion to those whose knowledge we have come to trust on a subject that can be very subjective. I'll start with mine, I don't put myself in the experienced category but I'm just trying to get the ball rolling. It has some nicks but still seems to work fine. I'll eventually sand it a little and put some Neat Feat oil on in those areas that were sanded to refresh it but for the most part my razor still runs smooth across it, no pot holes are bumping feeling when stropping.

Compared to my old warhorses, that looks new!

Thanked: 1371Here's one that I still use regularly.
The nicks at the top and bottom are from when I was still developing my stropping technique and would go too fast. I'd flip the blade and then move it the wrong direction a very slight amount after the flip.
The vertical scars are from my daughter "stropping" her razor, which is a dulled eBay junker. She put the spine on the strop and went to town.
The whole thing has been treated with Fromm strop dressing, and then I scraped the spine of a heavy razor on it several times to smooth it out. Even though the leather has different colors in the scratched areas, it is perfectly smooth to the touch, and when running a blade on it I can't feel or hear anything different in those areas. More importantly, razors stropped on it shave great!Last edited by HNSB; 07-07-2010 at 01:45 AM. Reason: typo
