Default My Entry Into The Kanayama Brotherhood

    Hey all,

So I decided to bite the bullet and buy the "best of the best" strops. I realize that that is very subjective, but based on the reviews of Kanayama strops I really wanted to try one out. Whether or not the quality justifies the price is a topic for another thread, but I just wanted to share my elation with you all.

Although I didn't buy the very top of the line Kayama, the 90000, I still bought a very respectable one, the 60000. The leather on the 60000 is just one level down in quality from the 7/8/90000, but only due to it not being quite as thick. Nonetheless, it is still apparently almost 4mm thick, so a very sturdy strop indeed. It's also a long strop, at 66cm long!!!

I JUST ordered it, so it will probably not arrive for another few weeks, but I am very excited to take this baby out for a ride! I have no problem at all with stropping and have not nicked a strop for a LOOONG time, and my TM strops are completely nick free. So I'm not overly concerned about damaging this strop, although I will definitely not strop carelessly on it.

Anyways, I'm sure you'll hear from me again once the strop has arrived and I've had some impressions of it.

    Until then, happy shaving everyone!

Congrats, I heard you should be stropping toward the east for best results.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I think you will like that strop very much. It is a pleasure to look at and lends a perfect finish to your blades. Mine is always my final strop after bridle and buffalo. Enjoy.

I just ordered a 40000. I couldn't pass up the 10% discount. Cannot wait for it to show up, there is already a spot for it on my wall...
